Route Overview

This scenic cycling route provides a captivating glimpse into the everyday life and rural charm of the island’s interior. The journey begins in the picturesque, sheltered fishing village of Porat. Before setting off, it is highly recommended to visit the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of St. Magdalene, historically a center for Glagolitic monks.

From the coast, the trail leads inland, winding through the cooling shade of dense oak forests and navigating traditional dry-stone walls that protect lush, centuries-old olive groves. A notable highlight along the way is Čavlena Bay, a tranquil spot perfect for a short rest while enjoying panoramic views across the Kvarner Bay. The return loop back to Porat meanders through quiet villages and pastoral landscapes, where you will often spot flocks of sheep grazing peacefully in fenced pastures.
