Cycling to the Moon Plateau (MTB)
A strenuous, rewarding mountain biking trail ascending from Baška to the rocky desert of the Moon Plateau, offering stunning views of Velebit and the Adriatic.
Open guidecycling No. 411
A blue-green rhapsody of fields and trees of Dubašnica, exploring Malinska's coastal promenade, historic monasteries, and olive groves.
The trail begins in the center of Malinska, passing the Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center “DubOak” and continuing along the coastal promenade towards Porat. Here, it is recommended to visit the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of St. Mary Magdalene, home to Glagolitic Franciscans.
The path then leads to Fumak, a hill with a large cross offering a stunning panorama of Rijeka Bay. The route continues through forest pastures, well-maintained olive groves, and meadows to the old cemetery of St. Apollinaris and its bell tower, part of the former center of Dubašnica, which was abandoned due to malaria. The trail proceeds through the hamlets of St. Anthony and St. John, the villages of Barušići and Oštorobradići, before returning to the center of Malinska.
The best vistas in Malinska are far from the bus stops. Rent a car to reach the trailhead and explore at your own pace.
