Biserujka Cave Trail #102
A gentle Krk Island hiking trail exploring the northern karst landscape of the Adriatic coast, leading to the fascinating underground world of the Biserujka Cave near Šilo.
Open guidehiking
An iconic Krk Island outdoor hike across the Moon Plateau above Baška, where the bora wind and karst landscape create a surreal, moon-like environment above the Adriatic.
The hike To the Moon and Back is Baška’s signature experience. It takes you from the lush pine forests at the sea level to a high-altitude desert that looks more like a lunar landscape than a Mediterranean island.
Reaching the plateau feels like stepping onto another planet. The land is stripped of most vegetation by the fierce Bora wind, leaving behind a vast expanse of pale limestone. Here, only the hardiest sheep and “mrgar” (drystone sheepfolds) survive.
From the edge of the plateau, the views of Baška Bay and the Prvić island are legendary. On clear days, the Velebit mountains on the mainland seem close enough to touch.
The best vistas in Baška are far from the bus stops. Rent a car to reach the trailhead and explore at your own pace.
